About Design Services

Since 2008, Spaces by Nicki Bongiorno has been providing residential and commercial interior design to clients near and far.

With a liberal arts background and a Masters degree in early childhood education, I spent many years teaching before deciding to apply the creative energy I used for designing learning spaces and curricula to a career in interior design. Over the years my work has been featured in local and national publications like Traditional Home, Maine Home+Design, and Boston Globe Magazine, to name a few.

My design philosophy is rooted in the belief that a sense of place is important in making a person feel at home. I believe that a house should reflect its owners’ personalities and experiences, but also have a link to its location. I am endlessly inspired by Maine’s natural beauty, the way of life, the fresh air, the smell of the ocean, and the textures of the sand and sea, mountains and woods. While my aesthetic leans towards coastal contemporary—clean lines, organic materials, and lots of texture—I love incorporating traditional, industrial, midcentury, and modern aesthetics into my designs. Ultimately, my design addresses the needs and desires of my clients above all else.
